Creating Consistent Characters
One of the key challenges in character generation is maintaining visual consistency across multiple images of the same character. Here are techniques for getting consistent results:
- Write a detailed character description — Document your character's key features: hair color and style, eye color, distinctive marks, outfit details, and body type. Use this description in every prompt.
- Use consistent style modifiers — Keep the art style descriptor exactly the same ("detailed anime illustration" vs "anime art") — minor wording changes affect output.
- Generate multiple variations — Generate 5–10 variations per pose and select the best. AI outputs vary naturally — cherry-picking the consistent ones gives you a coherent character.
- Reference the first successful generation — When a generation matches your vision, use its description as the baseline for all future prompts of that character.
Character Generation for Game Development
Independent game developers can dramatically reduce character art costs using AI generation. A single character might require dozens of concept variations before finalizing — at $50–200/hour for a human artist, this adds up quickly. AI generation lets you explore many directions at a fraction of the cost, reserving human artists for final polish and animation.
Wurt.app's 4K Extreme mode produces reference-quality character art suitable for concept documentation, marketing materials, and style guides — high enough quality for investor pitches and Kickstarter campaigns.
